We Welcome and Affirm You!

We're a group of laid back, loving, welcoming, and affirming Christians. We aren't perfect, but we're doing our best to live out the commands of Jesus and treat others with dignity and respect. We encourage you to come as you are because we believe you are worthy of being loved just as you are.

​

We believe that in Jesus Christ we see and experience the fullness of God, whose defining characteristic is love. Because we have encountered that love, we are called to extend it freely, generously, and without exception. As an American Baptist congregation, we affirm the historic Baptist principles of soul freedom, freedom of conscience, the priesthood of all believers, and the autonomy of the local church. Guided by Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and the example of Jesus, we affirm that every person bears the image of God and is worthy of dignity, belonging, and love.

Therefore, we joyfully proclaim ourselves a Welcoming and Affirming congregation. We celebrate and affirm LGBTQIA+ people and are committed to their full participation in every aspect of the life and ministry of this church, including worship, communion, baptism, membership, marriage, leadership, and service. We likewise affirm and celebrate people of every race, ethnicity, age, ability, socioeconomic status, family structure, immigration status, theological perspective, and life experience. We covenant to cultivate a community where all people are genuinely known, fully affirmed, deeply loved, and empowered to use their God-given gifts as we follow Jesus together.

What To Expect

​

That being said, as American Baptists, we're theologically and even politically diverse. Our worship services integrate the traditional and contemporary, which includes music. Our spacious sanctuary is filled with comfortable chairs and a gender neutral bathroom. We're just as ready to engage in some holy laughter as we are to do some serious, contemplative soul-searching. We like to be challenged and lift one another up. We genuinely like spending time together (and eating at a good old Baptist potluck!) and doing outreach work within the community.

We have fun activities and instruction in the Red House for children after service begins. The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday. We practice an open Communion table, which means ALL are welcome to Christ's table - you don't have to be a member of our church to participate. If you feel led to the Lord's supper, come and eat.

What Our Congregation Believes

​

Our commitment to soul liberty means that each individual is responsible for their own faith, so we do not have creeds which prescribe what a person is supposed to believe. Instead, in our tradition, we have confessions that are consensus documents expressing what a given community affirms at a certain time.
